I don't know anyone who stopped developing two years after starting their period! And yes, you should have a gynecological exam, preferably with a female doctor because they tend to take you more seriously than male docs. Your mom or a friend can go with you and hold your hand. You are draped with a sheet so nothing shows. The instrument used, called a speculum, comes in various sizes for comfort, and the one used for virgins is tiny. The exam should not hurt. Tell the doc it's your first female exam, and she should explain everything to you before she does it. Tell her about your period problems even if you just told the nurse.

Are you an athlete, did you suddenly lose a lot of weight? There are a lot of reasons it may have stopped, but after 6 months it definately wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor.

I think you should go to the doctor. Have you lost alot of weight since you started? are you heavily training in sports? soemtimes those things can cause a period to stop. sometimes we are just not very regular in the beginning, but this is a long time, and I think you should get checked out. good luck

My niece did the same thing at 14. Dont worry, it will work out. I would not recommend birth control pills or patches....weight gain is not always a result, but it is possible. Besides, I didnt have a regular period until after I had my first daughter....even on pills.

First of all, whenever a girl gets a period, it always come monthy. 7 months in the summer of 2006, then it stopped about for 6 months , In other words, if you don't have a period every month , dosn't when in the date of the month. You should have it every month. If you don't have it every month, then it is very very unnormal . You MUST see a docter, because it gets very dangerous if you don't. now if you're over 50 or 60 ages old. Then you don't have you have your period when you are only 50 or 60 years over. Go see a docter . You got check on that.
See your doctor if:

You have not started your period by the time you are 16. This may indicate that you have a problem that requires medical attention.
You stop getting your period or it becomes really irregular after it has been regular for a while (like 6 months or more). This can be a sign that you may have a hormone imbalance or a problem with nutrition, which can harm your body if left untreated.
You have very heavy or long periods, especially if you have a short cycle and get your period frequently. In rare cases, lots of blood loss can cause anemia (iron deficiency) and leave you feeling really weak and tired.
Your periods are really painful. You might have endometriosis or benign growths that should be removed. Or if you're sexually active, you might have PID.
Chances are that your painful or irregular periods are nothing to worry about. But if there is something going on, the quicker you get it taken care of, the sooner you'll be on your way to feeling great again.
