Anyone had a bad experience with the copper iud?!

Question: I'm wondering because after my sister in law has her baby next month she is planning to get one. I had the merina and it was horrible I was on my period the entire time I had it in I had it taken out after about a year and a half. so for her sake I wanted to see if anyone had any bad experiences with the copper iud.
