Heavy period on beach vacation?!

Question: I am going on a family vacation to the Caribbean this Friday 15thb(I am so excited!), but I am scheduled for my period the 16th (ugghh). In January, i was supposed to get it on the 7th but it came on the 16th so it would come while I was at the beach! So annoying. Anyway, I have a pretty heavy period. Well at least days 2 and 3 are (I need to change a super tampon every 2 1/2-3 hours.. gross!). And every time on the night of day 2 going into day 3 Ieak when I am sleeping. It's so gross. I have done the whole put a pad on with pantiliners but it doesnt work. It like drips to my butt so I am sleeping on my blood. My mom and sister were also scheduled to have their periods while on vacation but they both got theirs today, so now I am the only one.

How can I make it discreet? (I am sharing a bathroom with my older brother!)
and How can I ensure I won't leak?
also, what do I do on the airplane if I need to change? Can you put a pad in the "toilet" on the plane?
is there a chance it ..

Nothing you can do about it except get through it. Have you tried the OVERNIGHT pads...they do a little better coverage than a pantyliner. It is not recommended you wear a tampon at night due to risks of disease, but that is something you can discuss with your Mom or physician...

You can put the pad on the airplane in the trash can in the bathroom....same with the tampon.

Heavy periods stink.....I suffer with that 2 days of gushing as well....

Have fun on your trip...and maybe you'll get lucky and won't get your period until later in the month again....

just put in an upper abopbinsy tampon or a pad just for your vaction and plain ride if you use a tampon put patni liner on to if you want

if they dont have a waste basket or anything take a bottle of ferrebrez in the abthoroom and put it in your hoodie(in a bagie) so it wont smell then get off the plain

so that ur not sleeping "on ur blood", what i do, is i wear a maxi pad, nd put panti liners at the bottom. so it seems like a diaper. place a few paniliners across ur butt, just in case, because you don't noe where ur flow will go while sleeping.
to keep it discreet with ur brother, just wrap ur pad/ tampon in toilet paper a few times so that he won't noe. but i think it'll be funny to let ur older brother noe that ur on ur period so that he won't mess with you. i dunno. but it's a try. you don't have to if you don't want.
on the plane, there should be trashcans where you can dispose the papertowels when ur done. if not, i guess you'll just have to "flush it".
there's a chance that ur period will be irregular since you just recently got ur peiod. but it's always nice to prepared.

hope this helps...^.^

DIVA CUP! It's so much easier to deal with than tampons and pads and because they are non-absorbent, they can be worn for up to 12 hours and are far, far less likely to leak. It's a totally different way to deal with your period, but I totally guarantee that if you try it, you will never go back to tampons and pads.

When i first had my periods they were heavy and the cramps KILLED ME!! ouch! I used a super tampon and a super absorbant pad at night. If you're swimming and can;t wear a pad you're going to have to find the biggest tampon you can squeeze up there. I'm 17 and trust me i know what you're going through. pads feel like diapers and tampons can somtimes be painful but we're women and we're the more dominant race so we just learn to deal.

Have fun in the carribbean!!

Of course there is a chance your period might be late - but don't bank on it. It is more likely to be early. If your last period was on the 16th, its not definite that your next will be on the 16th anyway, since menstrual cycles usually run around 28 days, which would mean you would get your period around the 12th. Fingers crossed for you!
It's probably a good idea to wear a pad on the plane, just in case you come on during the flight. Don't try to flush a pad down the toilet - it will probably go, but might not! All planes have bins for tissue etc - wrap up the pad in the new pad's wrapping and put it in the bin.
As for staying with your brother, just be sure to keep a separate bag in the bathroom that you can tie up. You should be fine flushing tampons but don't flush pads.
Regarding the heaviness of your period, I would suggest that during the night you wear a tampon and a night time pad - the thickest and longest with wings that you can find. The pads that are not travel packaged tend to be a lot thicker than the wrapped kind. You can wear a tampon up to 8 hours - if you plan to sleep longer, you'll have to either just wear a pad or get up early and change. Another useful tip is to wear 2 pairs of underwear when you are having a heavy period - it helps to keep the pad in place, and also prevents leaks getting all the way through both pairs of underwear and your pajama bottoms. Have a great holiday!

watch out for sharks! sharks are attracted to blood!
