Women With Children - Questions About Childbirth...?!

Question: i'm 18 and NOT planning on having children anytime soon - i'm not even planning on getting married until i'm out of college. the thing is, childbirth really freaks me out. having a doctor shove their hands up there, being ripped open, blood and fluid everywhere.... i can't even imagine anything more painful. it makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. i don't know how i will ever come to terms with labor and delivery.

so ladies -
were you prepared for the experience and all of the pain?
what would you describe the pain as?
how was childbirth different with each child?
what was the worst part?
any other advice you could give?

thanks so much!

here's my advice....go with the epidural. Yes, I realize that not all women have this option because of various circumstances, but if it's possible in your case (in the future) GO FOR IT. My labor was so pleasant and peaceful!!!! I was happy and energized, and I didn't feel one lick of pain. I was able to experience childbirth with the trauma. I could feel my daughter coming out, I was able to push, but it just felt like pressure...

i didnt feel anything but the first few contractions they hurt but once i got my epidural(the best invention ever) it was so easy i didnt feel anything and best of all the epidural was painless also but afterward is when it dont feel too great because ur real sore but it doesnt last long. I loved giving birth so much im pregnant again, i would do it a thousand times if i could.

I was NOT prepared for the pain. I felt like a hand puppet...LOL! people sticking their hands up me to feel how many cm's i was. that sucked!
for me, the contractions were really bad. i had to be induced 6 days early because of high blood pressure that wouldn't come down. i hear that contractions with pitocin are horrible! they would start in my lower back and i felt like i had to pee. after a while, i was like, ok, i have to pee...no wait, a contraction is coming! they were SOOO painful! OMG! then, my face & arms went prickly & numb and i had to have an oxygen mask. they think i had a reaction to the pitocin. my daughter did too. she would drop into the birth canal after each contraction & then her heart rate would get really low. it was sooo scary! at 7 cm, they gave me the epidural. i wanted to KISS that guy! LOLOL! after that i never felt another contraction. WHOO HOO! and when i was pushing, i didn't feel anything but a little pressure, like taking a big poop.
i only have one child, so i can't compare. maybe dh & i will have another one soon...but for now...
the worst part was the low back labor, and the contractions.
but ya know something? i wouldn't trade it for the world! looking back on it, 22 months later, you really DON'T remember the pain. and my daughter...omg, i'm sooo in love with her! it's SOOOO worth it! i'd do it again!
