This all depends on the skill of the Dr. who performed it.
Sometimes they can scrape too hard with the curettage - and that can cause scarring inside your uterus. If the scarring occurs near the opening of a fallopian tube; it could cause a future potential pregnancy to become ectopic ( tubal pregnancy).

Another thing is that the procedure they use to dilate you cervix could cause scarring on your cervix. That could possibly cause for an incompetent cervix. Sometimes, that can easily be taken care of by simply putting a 'stitch' in your cervix; and a pregnancy can be carried out safely.

It's rare that any real fertility difficulties occur. I'm sure you are going to be ok. I've been in the same situation and know how hard it is - especially when the thoughts of future fertility cross your mind.

If you sincerely want to become pregnant right now, I would say keep trying. But, if there's any possibilty that you might be experiencing the need for what they call a "replacement pregnancy" I would hope you might wait a bit longer. Just long enough so that you feel more emotionally, and physically strong.
Not only for you but for your future baby, and family as a whole. They're going to need you to be strong.
Good luck with every thing.

You shouldn't have any problems conceiving after an abortion, that's why they usually tell women to wait 6 weeks before having sex because you can get pregnant again. (that and the risk of infection)

Yes it can. From the scar tissue of having the procedure done.

Yes it can. Depends on how it was done, etc. But definitely it can be an unfortunate side effect. I do believe in a woman's right to choose, but you have to be ready to accept all possible outcomes. If you want to feel better, adopt a baby. However, you said you tried only 4 weeks after the abortion? Big mistake. Your body isn't ready and you aren't ready emotionally. Wait at least six months and get some counseling. Worst thing you can do is get pregnant right away just because of guilt.

hey i read somewhere that it can but it all depends on how well the procedure is done i am agenst abortion but im not lying to you i really did read it somewhere i think it also depends on your age. But you should really ask you doctor im sure he/she will know more then me or any one else here unless there a doctor but u cant be sure that they really are.

Unless something very rare went wrong during the procedure there shouldn't be any changes in your ability to get pregnant. Remember, IUI can take several cycles to be effective. There could, however, be other underlying issues, so if you continue to have trouble you should talk to an ob-gyn or, even better, a fertility specialist.

Yes, it can. It can leave scare tissue, and a fertilized egg may not be able to attach to the scar tissue.
