IUD - Hard Cervix?!

Question: I got an IUD inserted a little over a week ago.

Mild cramping, and very little spotting.

This afternoon I had some pretty bad cramps. Nothing severe but it wasn't too nice! So I went to feel the strings, and noticed the cervix was kind of hard.

Is that normal??

I never really felt it before, so I'm really not sure.

The IUD is in your cervix, and that's what has made it feel hard. You may have a lot of irregular cramping and bleeding during the first few months after insertion. You have a Mirena, right? The irregular cramping/bleeding should go away if you give it time. Your period should get lighter, too, and may go away altogether.
