One could say that any day is a good day for having sex, it depends on what you hope to achieve. I shall assume that you are trying to conceive. Now for your egg to be fertilized it needs to meet some sperm while it is in the fallopian tube on its way to the uterus. Ovulation is when the egg sack on your ovary bursts and the ripened egg is released. You are at you most fertile during or just before ovulation.

Everyone ovulates differently, you can not find out by your cycle date and how often you have it when you ovulate, you would need to buy something like a basal thermometer or I think they have mechanical tests you can use now made by I think First Response. Your doctor wouldn't even be able to tell you when you ovulate. Sorry
When your mucus gets thicker and more of it then you are ovulating.
