So....this is the third week I have had my period this month...and I am on the p!

Question: I have been on the pill for a month now. My Nurse Practioner said last week that my body is getting used to the medication and that its okay if I am bleeding more heavily or lightly than normal..which is understandable..but umm..three weeks...it stopped for a night and then I got it again..could this still be the affect of the pill on my body? I called and left a message with my nurse practioner and I'm sure I am being a pain...but this time around its making me light headed and feeling weak...could I be losing too much blood?

I don't know if you're losing too much blood, but your hormones are definitely out of whack, which could also cause you to feel out of sorts.

I had a similar problem years ago with a birth control pill. I had to switch pills. The hormone mixture in that particular one just didn't work for me. (I forget the name of it, this was about 17 years ago). If this goes on for another month or two, I'd definitely switch to another pill.

And don't worry about possibly being a pain. This is YOUR body, YOUR health. You have the right to take control of it. If the Nurse Practioner isn't answering your questions, you might have to go to the doctor herself or switch practices altogether. Best of luck.

it may be too strong, ask for something with less estrogen

Talk to your doctor. Also see if she can switch you to ortho tri cyclen low. Lower estrogen. Good luck

I will take 3 month till you get used to it...........Just give it time
