Aw hun. I know it's intimidating, but just be really casual about it. If she's in the kitchen or den just walk in and say "hey, mom, i thought i should tell you i got my period a few days ago".

Otherwise she might see your used pads in the garbage. Just be honest with her. If you don't make it a big deal, she hopefully won't.

Go tell her. Your mum's been through it before and she knows so many things about than you do. And who's going to buy you new pads? Just go tell her. She won't yell at you. She won't be upset. She will help you, especially when you start to get a bit of discomfort from your period.

You just, tell her. Trust me, I know that it can be embarrassing, but she won't judge or be mad at you. It's not that kind of thing! After you get your first period, you have to go see a gynecologist for the first time to get a pap smear (not bad, doesn't hurt, just embarrassing). Just tell your mother that it's time for you to go see a womans doctor, I think she will understand without you having to go into much details! Good luck sweetie, and welcome to the world of womanhood!!

do it like the other gal said. It is a part of life. And be thankful you don't have a little brother. When my youngest daughter got hers, she told her 2 older sisters first and he overheard. Came flying into the kitchen shouting, "Sarahs bleeding and she won't let me see where!" It was hilarious and embarressing!

I was like that when I first started but don't worry If you feel you can't tell your mum to her face then try writing her a Little note or text I got my twin sister to tell my mum cos it is less embarrassing but she just understood cos it is hard for you when you first start tell your best friend its not good to keep it to yourself good luck

dont worry about it! i was so scared when i started... i didnt tell my mom for like 3 days!
but she was sooo cool with it... it was almost like a dream!
she will definately understand, she went through it aswell, she knows how you feel!
just give it a chance.. you will be surprised ... in a good way
=)
