It would have to be an extremely hard blow to cause serious damage. If a hard lump forms where you were hit and it doesn't go away, then I would definitely see a doctor. If it bruises and feels sore for a few days (maybe up to a week or so), then you're probably fine.

As far as I know, a blow to the breast won't cause a drop in milk production unless a milk duct clogs as a result. If you're currently breastfeeding and you notice symptoms of mastitis or a breast infection ( a sore, hard, red spot, severe pain while nursing, fever and other flu-like symptoms), call your doctor right away. A breast infection will most likely require antibiotics to clear up. DO continue to nurse in that breast, though, as nursing will help clear out the blockage in the milk duct.

Yes! It depends on how hard and how much damge is done! A hard hit to the breast can cause cells to become cancerous years later. If the nipple become puffy for longer than a day or two damage was done. My niece had a puffy nipple for years after a hit in the breast! If it looks o.k. and dose not hurt after a week or two That breast should be fine for decades to come!

It is possible to damage breast tissue if hit hard enough. If you have had this problem and are worried then please see your doctor who will be able to put your mind at rest.
