First, find a reputable piercer, don't settle because there can be serious issues if it is done wrong. Research is also a key and the internet is full of good info on piercing. The piercing, which is actually the hood not the clit, should be vertical not horizontal.
I had mine done and found that because I was stimulated all the time, I became desensitized. End result I took it out.
