i think 13 is too young for birth control pills -- your body is still getting used to the changes (puberty) and to introduce foreign, artificial hormones may not necessarily be the best thing. do you have really intense cramps? i used to have really really REALLY bad cramps and my periods were heavy, but i waited until i was 18 to go on the pill. there are many long term adverse side effects of birth control pills because, when it comes down to it, its a chemical that alters your body's natural biological state. so in this sense, the later you go on it, the less damage you do (of course, there are many factors that affect the effects of birth control)
if you feel you need to go on the pill, then by all means do so, but make sure you seek out any alternatives before you do decide to go on it.

young girls do take birth control to help regulate their periods and to lighten their periods if they are heavy. Only you, your parents and your doctor can make the decision if the birth control is the right option for you.

It would be good, you need to talk to your mom about it, it help my periods out a lot.

It is okay to take birth control pills to regulate your period. Since you are still pretty young, your period may change in the next few years. If it is really unbearable, talk to your doctor. He/she may want to perform a gynecological exam before prescribing them to you. Make sure to have them tell you about possible side effects!

they dont cause lighter periods im 15 ive been on BC for 3 weeks now and my period got worse cuz it gives you a full on period theres nothing wrong with taking it if you havnt had sex then when you tell the doc. you want to they will just talk to you and explain how to take it . i would ask your mom or doctor about it i like taking it b cuz you get to no exactly when you are going to have your period it could cause lighter periods cuz its diffrent on diffrent people i would try it

I took them at 13 to help regulate my cycles. I only needed them for about 6 months before they had regulated themselves. I'd talk to your doctor about it though, because they know your situation more than we do. You could have an underlying problem causing the heavy periods, or it could be normal for you.

Uhhh...I think I'm in the wrong place.

Now where's the sporting goods section...

yup !!!

See a doctor and discuss it over with your mom. Birth control pills do have side effects.

Quit thinking my dear...dun take!it will ruin ur health in future

Birth Control is like poison, and it's also one of the main cause of breast cancer.
