There are many different options for treatment but the 3 most common are:

1) Birth Control Pill: typically brands such as Yasmin or Yaz are prescribed as they help control skin/hair problems associated with PCOS

2) Metformin: a diabetes drug that helps regulate your blood sugar levels and in turn your hormone levels, again helps control symptoms of PCOS

3) Lifestyle: this involves using a low-carb and high-protein diet to help regulate your blood sugar naturally. Most women with PCOS have a very positive response to changing their diet and exercising. It's worth buying a specialized book on this subject to help you as it's quite confusing to learn which are low-carb or low GI foods.

Depending on how severe your symptoms usually a combination of Lifestyle changes to your diet, and either the Pill or Metformin usually really helps.

hi i also have the same, sometimes metforming ( what they give to diabetics ) can help see you doc they should be able to refure you to someone who knows, dont leave it try and get it sorted as soon as possible, good luck

my daughter has PCOS and insulin resistance too. She has been given Diane...but i think most pills work. Her dietician is just great. She diagnosed the condition which doctors didnt. she is on a lo carb-high protien diet. The diet is to give her extra energy so she can exercise more. and it works! she exercises twice a day. if she misses any meal, she gets tired and cant go the gym. she is also taking metformin. Good luck. Hope u recover soon.

It may be Dianette. I have tried this a few times over the years but it had no effect on the nasty symptoms of PCOS. I am 40 and my symptoms have got worse as I've got older. I always assumed it would be the opposite. How wrong was I!

If your in the UK, you may find Doctors totally unsympathetic and uninterested. I know I have.

i also have it. my gp said going on the pill dianette can help with acne/ unwanted hair but it takes up to 6+ months to work. there are other meds to help but i think they are given to you when you want to concieve.

PCOS can be treated with the pill Dianette - this helps with the excess hair growth.
Metformin (usually used with diabetes) can help to contol symptoms too - commonly women with PCOC are overweight.
The best thing to do is exercise and follow a healthy diet. Small frequent meals, fresh not processed food is best.
