How do I go about getting a birth control perscription in Germany?!

Question: I'm currently studying abroad in Germany and would like to go on the pill. I have the mandatory state insurance, but was wondering to what extent it would cover birth control pills, trips to the gyn, etc, or even if I could just go to the general doctor that I'd already seen here once. If anyone has any information on how much this would cost for someone who is 21, etc etc, it would be very helpful, as my insurance company's website is unclear about it.

The only experience I have is that you can't buy any medications in Germany without a prescription and the Germans are so very strict. What I would do, assuming you speak a bit of German is call one or two gynecologist in your town and find out about the cost of a visit, maybe the receptionist knows how to get about the health insurance you have. I tried to find on the Internet but couldn't find any information, you might want to go through the Yellow pages of German (Gelbe siten).
