Q for those who have had Implanon?!

Question: the form of birth control that is similar to Norplant is implanted in you.
I have questions on it if you have had it.

Does it hurt when implanted?
How long does it last?
Can you see it?

1: When it's implanted, they will inject you with some local anaesthetic first, so you won't feel the implant being put in, except for some feelings of tugging. The anaesthetic needle might hurt a little bit though.

2: The implant is effective for 3 years. You can have it removed before then if you want, and it will stop working immediately.

3: You can't usually see the implant once it's under your skin, but you can feel it- when you run your finger over the area it's implanted (usually your upper inner arm) it feels like a matchstick under the skin.

Hope this helps!
