Breast Reduction. . .?!

Question: Hey peeps.

I am a 36 DD and I am 5'4. I have contemplated getting one of these for a long while(I am 20 ha ha) and I was just wondering if people had words of encouragement and/or words of caution. I really don't know what to expect or what to consider. They don't cause me back pain. Just make life hard. Wah wah wah. Any feedback would be great!

I have a ton of information for you, however it is too long to put here. So to keep it short...

Make sure you look at your health care directory for at least THREE PS's, don't just go to one because you might like your second or third consultation. It can be covered by insurance if you complain of back pain and other health issues.

Mine was $8,000 and insurance covered it all. I was out of work for two weeks. Full recovery for me was about three months, but I was back to full force around my first month.

I got nipple sensation back in three months, but it can take over a year, depending on the procedure done. My scars are barely noticeable after two years (they were actually faded around the one year mark).

Use arnica montana (look for it on amazon) before my surgery, and my swelling and bruising were minimal. After my incisions fully closed, I massaged them and used Scarguard and mederma on my scars.

I was in NO PAIN after my surgery (three hours or so long) and I stayed overnight in the hospital.

I have a ton more information for you if you want to send me your email address.

I also recommend you check out these two sites:

I say if you want it go for it. With technology these days there are little/ no risk involved my friend had it done its the best thing thats happened to her. She can fit in a dress easily now. You go girl.

One of my best friends had a breast reduction because she had lots of problems with pain and soreness. If you are in pain or uncomfortable you should talk to the doctor about a breast reduction. Any surgery is serious and you do need to give it a lot of thought.

If they're not causing you any problems, then your health insurance may not cover it. I'm a 40 DDD so I know ALL about having large breasts.

I've contemplated having a reduction as I have back problems as well. Just make sure you fully research the plastic surgeon that you pick, ok?

Lets see. You're considering getting a breast reduction. Thats really a personal choice of yours. But I think that God made your body the way he wanted your body to look. And I wouldn't change it. Yes, they can be hard to manage, yes, guys get a little out of hand, but its ok. To be honest, I really don't know what to suggest. But its up to you. We dont have the final say so. Some encouragement, we may give.

idk that I would do it if it was not causing pain bc that's a major surgery to go thru for just an irritation.

I've considered a breast reduction for a few years (I'm 21, 5'2" and a 34DDD), and have done research. If you're willing to pay for it yourself, you don't have anything to worry about, but if it's causing back problems (like, you're seeing a chiropractor often) insurance will often cover it.

Just remember, surgery is always a big deal, so talk to a doctor and weigh the options. Also, it's not as dangerous as having implants because you're just having extra tissue removed instead of adding a foreign object to the body.

There are ALWAYS risks with ANY surgery. You need to weigh the risks with how much you really want to have the procedure done.

Risks for breast reduction include but are not limited to:
numbness in breasts/ nerve damage
bleeding
blood clots/ hematoma
disfigurement/ asymmetry
emotional and psychological pain
inability to lactate
anesthesia reaction/ allergic reaction
infection
physical pain
death
end product not being what you were expecting

I'm not saying that this stuff WILL happen to you, but they are very real risks. It is a big procedure and you should really think hard about if you are willing to risk enduring possible complications for a cosmetic outcome. If you actually did have disabling back pain, then it may be worth it, but if you are doing it just because you want to look smaller of fit in clothes better, make sure that you are making a fully educated decision.

I'm not against people having this done and in no way am I judging you. When you go to see a plastic surgeon, he will explain these risks. Many people don't REALLY listen to them or believe that their procedure will be flawless. (which many are flawless), however, there are those that do have problems and they end up regretting having it done because they didn't even consider all the possible complications.

Good Luck!
