How can you stop lumpy jelly-like periods?!

Question: I am 13 years old and I have just had my second period. My period was lumpy and heavy for 4 days. The period went for about 6 days and I don't know if it is normal. I am scared that it will come back lumpy because it is very uncomfortable.

Seriously? Same here, I'm 13 and it's my second. I have that, too, so don't worry. I've read it's normal.

All I can think of is going to the bathroom alot (every 1 to 2 hrs). I used to do that when I had a heavy flow as I didn't want to feel it on my pad.
Or you could wear tampons.

by 'lumpy' do you mean clots??
i'm 22 and when i started my period i was only 11...i had REALLY bad ones also that were horrid, so heavy i could constantly tell when i was bleeding..i'd leak all the time.i went to the doctors and got put on some tablets which helped the pain and also stopped me from vomitting...it was to do with the lining in my vagina.
basically i think it's best if you go to the doctors...it's very normal but just unlucky...periods can last up to a week when you suffer from heavy ones.
another idea, if you're not put on tablets like me, is to go on the pill, not for sex, but it helps lighten your period. a lot...
I hope it works out for you, but don't worry, it is normal :) xxx

It may just be that since these are your first few cycles, the lining you are shedding is very thick. Unfortunately, periods are uncomfortable, especially at first. You should talk to your mom or an aunt or someone you trust if they are still really lumpy after a couple of months, and you should see a gynecologist within 6 months of starting your period so you can make sure everything is normal and healthy. I know that sounds about as fun as having your teeth pulled out by a train, but it's very important that you take care of yourself, since reproductive cancers and diseases are some of the most life altering and potentially fatal maladies women face.

Though it's uncomfortable It being lumpy is quite normal. It's the4 lining of the uterus that hadn't been 'used'.

You see. when you get your ovulation (14-16 days after the first day of every period) and you didn't get 'fertilized' the lining/layer covering the uterus to 'cushion' the growing fetus would'nt get to be used so it comes out as your period around another 14-16 days after your ovulation. Hence there are clots

Lumpy periods ussually mean your having blood clots - Which are completely NORMAL. The clots do come for a reason though many which are harmless... though some forms of Anemia and a type of iron deficiency has blood clots as a symptom. Maybe just get checked up by a doctor if you want to make sure. ussually they'll just take a blood test and count your red blood cells and make sure everything is A OK.

dont worry ,this is normal but if they get too much for you the doctor can give you something to settle it down.....

its like that because the blood is clotting.
