How safe is it to have a vaginal birth with metal in your spine?!

Question: I have metal in my lumbar spine (from a previous illness) and I wan't to get pregnant soon after I'am married. Could I have some complications because of this? Also, I can't find any information on the internet about this.

My daughter has 2 metal rods in her back due to scoliosis. Her problem was finding a doctor who would take her case and not insist on a c-section. She finally found one. Now I'm the proud grandma of 2 beautiful granddaughters. It CAN be done. Just find a doctor that you trust and is aware of your feelings.

well it could. IF you get pregant...your back bone should be strong to carry the baby...go ask your doctor just to make sure.

i would talk to an ob/gyn about it. they'll be very helpful and maybe give you some different options and advice.

Hmmm. That sounds like a question for an OBGYN. If you're wanting to conceive, it's always a good idea to have a routine gynecological exam, just to make sure everything is okay before you get pregnant. You can ask the doctor about it when you're there.
