sorry honey, but it sounds like this may be the start of menopause (can start from 45-50 or so). Usually starts with irregular periods, you may get longer gaps between them or even worse, instead of ovulating you will get another period (a period every 2-3 weeks is such a pain). But it all passes. Even without the weight of the world on your shoulders many women going through menopause experience fits of anxiety. It's all the fluctuations in hormones, that can make you as horny as a goat too!

If it's really disturbing you, check out the net for sites on options for treatments to relieve the symptoms of menopause, there is HRT and other things such as over the counter herbal remedies. I've heard some women say primrose oil and fish oil seem to help with the mood swings.

Menopause is an individual and deeply personal experience for each woman. The best advice I can give you is research the options and try and see what works for you. One important thing is to keep your calicum levels up and your fat levels down. (weight gain and calcium depletion are real challenges once the estrogen disappears)

Good luck

Menopause at 48 would be normal, but you should check to make sure you aren't pregnant. If it is menopause it's unlikely that this is the end for good of periods, it usually take some time where they become less frequent and more irregular before stopping altogether.
Of course stress can alter the menstrual cycle as well, and stop you from thinking straight.

I'm the same age. I haven't yet stopped having periods but I doubt very seriously I can get pregnant. Different women experience different symptoms while going through menopause. Some start getting irregular periods while others have heavier periods before they stop for good. Some stop having periods but continue having other symptoms for years afterwards. The only way to tell for sure is to get checked out by a doctor.

i am young but i did health and social care and it could be the menopause. look for the signs. e.g. sweating, mood swings and hair thinning. Also like others have said you should just check to see if you are pregnant in case that is the affect.
