Tampons are really easy to use. If you are inserting them correctly, you shouldn't feel them go in. Just follow the directions in the box and relax.... If you can get it in, you can get it out. Just remember to pull it out at the same angle that you put it in. I have never heard of the strings breaking. They are 100% cotton, so they are really strong.

As for knowing when to take it out.... If it leaks, it's time to change it. Other than that, you can leave them in for up to 8 hours. I change mine every 4 hours. Some women say that they can feel when the tampon is full and ready to be changed. I have never felt this. I guess they say that it feels heavy.

When you first start using tampons, it can be a bit frustrating. But once you get the hang of it, you will be so glad that you use them. While you can use a tampon only, it's best to use pads every once in a while. I buy the multi pack Tampax. It has lite, regular and super tampons in every box. When my flow is heavy, I use the super, with a panty liner. When the flow is normal, I use the regular, with a liner. When I get to the end of my period, when the flow is light (spotty), I use the lite tampon at night while asleep, with a thin maxi (just in case) and a maxi through the day. If your flow is heavy, you should change the tampon more often.

Try using tampax, slender. no they dont hurt.you should change it like every 4 hours.

I'm 13 and just got my period, I have tried tampons but I can't get them in!

I have heard you should take them out within 4 hours or you can get Toxic Shock Sydrome (TSS) and die from it. That's all I really know. If you need help getting them in, search google for how to put in tampons. The guides help but I still can't get mine in because it does hurt to me.

well im 14 and i just got my period a couple of months ago. i use tampons all the time! it doesnt hurt when you first put it in it feels a little weird though. but its ok. i reccomend playtex gentle glide.
the string WILL NOT snap. come on girl, they make them especially for people like you and me. dont worry. u will be able to get it out, dont worry about a thing.

Ok tampons do NOT hurt if you're using the right ones. I use gentle glide because they go in really easy and provide really good protection. If you try one and it hurts to put it in then it's either too big for you or it's the wrong kind. Start out with the normal size.. if you find your period is too heavy or you have to change it too often then switch to super. I've never heard any cases of the string snapping or not being able to get it out. Because of the design of the tampon it would be really difficult to stick it too far up there. The tampon companies do consider these things! Normally you're supposed to change a tampon every 2-4 hrs. I don't change them this often because I have a light flow. It all depends. Wear a panty liner at first to prevent leaks! Don't be scared.. they are so much more convenient than pads.

***EDIT: Don't worry about Toxic Shock Sydrome. This is extremely UNcommon and only happens if you leave tampons in for days or weeks at a time.

Ok.
1) It may hurt a little bit the first few times. It will also hurt a little bit if you put a tampon in when your flow is super light. Nothing excruciating though!

2) The string will most likely not snap. It is extremely rare for a string to snap! The string is woven into the core of the tampon- it isn't going to snap. If it does, you have to either use your fingers to pull it out, or you can attempt to push it out.

3) you will know when to remove the tampon! You will either feel it sliding out slightly, or you will se blood on the string.

Don't be scared, tampons are easy to use, more hygenic and less bothersome than pads, and if used correctly, are pretty safe. Good Luck!

the 1st couple of times it can feel uncomfortable when u put it in but it doest hurt, its because you are tense, afer you relax it is really easy, and you should change every 6 hours to be on the safe side its ok to leave in 4 8hours tho. and always use the least absorbent tampon possible. the strings are stitched the whole length of the tampon so theyre not gonna come unstitched, if you cant get it out have a good fish around lol if u really cant get it out ask ur mum or see a doctor, hope this helps x

It will hurt first time, but it's not to bad. If u stress out heaps u will go tense hence hurt more then it should (i no, coz i stressed)...
the string wont come off and evn if it does (WHICH IT WONT :) ) u can go to ur local dr. Norm, every 4 hours u take it out but if u can feel it u should take it out. Wen u use them u shouldnt be able to feel it at all, if u can its sliding down.
if you need to go poopies, it will come out to, coz ur pushing, so be awear of that. um, if u have a heavy flow u need to use a thicker one.

my suggestion is, use ur pads and wen ur peiod for the month is ending, use a slim tampon to put up there or even try a slim wen u dnt have ur period and put vasaline on it for it to slide up. this way it wont get messy wen u first try coz there aint no blood.

hope this helps

Don't be scared. It may be a little weird the first time you put one in, but it shouldn't be painful. It comes with directions inside the box for the best way to put it in. Read that first. Try to relax.
Your vagina is not a bottomless pit. If the string breaks you can reach in and grab it with your fingers. But don't worry about that. It has never happened to me and I've been using them for 15 years.
You'll just have to keep an eye on it at first to know when to change it. You'll get a "full" feeling, but it took me a while to figure out that it meant it was time to change. Wear a pantyliner for backup.
Change it at least every 4 hours to be healthy and safe.

okay, the first time you put it in it will hurt a little bit. once your sticking it up there you might feel like you should stop pushing it farther BUT DONT. keep pushing it up until the end of the plastic part is touching your skin. (your fingers should be holding it at that spot so wait until your fingers are touching your..you know.) lol the instructions on the box explain it better. but if you dont put it in all the way it will be uncomftorble and when you do it the right way you wont be able to feel it at all.

the string is very very strong even if it doesnt seem like it so there's a very small chance it'll break but if it does you can reach up a little with your fingers and pull it out. (kind of gross, but it works) if the string broke off all the way you might have to go to the doctor.

you are onl supposed to wear it for like 4-5 hours so take it out then.

i know it might seem sacry to wear a tampon at first but they are soooo much better than pads. you cant feel them and it's not disgusting and messy down there lol.

good luck!!

I think it depends on the person. When I tried using tampons I was 15 and it hurt to me. So I did not use them until I got a bit older.

My suggestion to you is to just try one. Use the slender like one poster said. If it hurts then don't use them until you get a bit older.

I hope this helps.

u may feel discomfort and i never had a string snap or go inside you chnge your tapon if u are wotty that it will leak u could always also wear a lite day pad. u will know when to change it heavy flow 5 hours lite flow mabey like7 hours

When you first start, make sure it's a heavy day of your period. Bend slightly forward & put one foot up on the edge of the tub or toilet. Use a twisting motion to get it started. Push all the way in, then push the inside part of the applicator in all the way, then remove the applicator. Once it's in, you shouldn't even feel it. The string won't break (never heard of it happening). Don't wear it more than 6 hours (danger of toxic shock syndrome - can be fatal!). On a heavy day, you may have to change it after 2-3 hours. On a light day, it may not fill so better to use a light pad then as it will be hard to remove if dry. You can use a pantyliner with a tampon to avoid any leaks & it may also tell you when to change it. When removing, pull slowly, don't yank it.
The ones with plastic applicators or slender tampons are easier to use.

As a guy this isn't my subject but as a father, then I would say that if you are still a virgin, which at your age I'm guessing that you still are, then yes it will hurt, if your cherry has already gone then there shouldn't be much pain.
Hope this helps sweetheart.
