Constant coughing from Bronchitis any ideas to help it?!

Question: I went to the doc on Friday and he diagnosed me with bronchitis.

I asked for tussonex to help with the coughing (which he has given me in the past for bronchitis) but he wouldn't prescribe it and the over the counter cough syrups aren't working either.

I cough so hard that I have a headache and I can't sleep at night because of the coughing, my throat is scratchy and I'm just miserable.

Any ideas on what I can do to sleep tonight? Or what I can say to the doc to convince him to prescribe me tussonex?

Try heat pad on chest. Dont leave on but 10 min time. Prop up well. Mentholatum chest and throat. Drink warm tea or even heated sodapop. Lemon if you got it. Over counter MUSSNEX is great. I dont understand why he would not give you something. I actually cough a rib out place one time. I was just not ready to go to DR then started side pain. Salt water gargle.will help throat . Stay warm. Sip on soup. Thats alll I remember.

.Steroids from a doctor or drink some whiskey like i do

Drink lots of warm tea with lemon and honey........ginger tea helps........knock yourself out with some cough syrup...........double dose it if u have to..............doc told me to do that once............ok.........and wiskey does help!!!!!!!! LOL

My doctor gave me a cough suppressant.
It all depends on how bad you have it, he may not have gave you anything because he 'wants you' to cough to break up the congestion.
Stay away from anything hot, that just makes it worse.
An over-the-counter cough suppressant might work, but kinda defeats the purpose.

I once had a cough that lasted for a couple of months. It was terrible it it made my chest tired all the time. Eventually, I just had to teach myself how to breathe through my nose. It irritates your throat less.
