How Much For IUD (specifically Mirena)?!

Question: Curious about cost of this sort of contraceptive.

Answers: Curious about cost of this sort of contraceptive.

Well I have insurance so the cost for the Mirena, additional supplies and the office visit were covered based on contract rates at a little over 1000. The Mirena alone was paid at close to $500 by my insurance. All I had to pay was the office copay of $25.

In general, the Mirena costs anywhere from 300 to about 600 dollars plus office visit/supply/etc costs the dr. will/may charge for.

In a yr and a 1/2 or so, you are spending more on the patch/pills/etc than what the Mirena will cost in one payment but will work for 5 yrs. It's very cost effective.

The Mirena hormonal IUD costs between $300 and $400 every five years plus the cost of an office visit for insertion and a follow-up appointment.

it can be used for 5 years and by the time you have had it for two it evens out with traditional bc methods in cost.

it's going to depend on your insurance. Without insurance I think it's pretty expensive.
