Why do menstrual flows vary? I normally have very light normal periods.?!

Question: But sometimes I have heavy bleeding with lots of clotting why does this occur? Is there ever reason for concern for this variation?

No, I wouldn't worry too much about heavy vs. light bleeding. While you are still young your period is trying to regulate anyway. How heavy your period is can depend on levels of hormones, how heavy you are, and how athletic you are. If you are athletic your period can be a lot lighter or skip frequently. Don't worry about it too much until you are over 18.
