Does a septate hymen cause more pain when it breaks? than say an annular hymen?!

Question: i recently tried to have sex for the first time, but it was excruciating so i had to stop...is there anything such as sexual position etc...or my boyfriend can do to make it less painful the next time? Also when it breaks, will the hymen break in half or at one point?

Excruciating pain sounds no good! I'd say take your time for sex with your boyfriend. Experiment more with him fingering you, so you can get used to having something in your vagina. Use lubricant or make sure you're very wet and very turned on before he enters you. Your cervix is lower down if you aren't turned on, that could be adding to your discomfort.

If you get on your hands and knees, then lower your head and arms to the ground (so your butt is up in the air) that position will open up your vagina more.

Lastly, explore yourself. Get a small mirror and take a look down there to see if your hymen is there, what it looks like, what everything else looks like. Try playing around down there by yourself more, know what makes you feel good and comfortable.

Septate vs annular hymen? I have no idea what you are talking about. Use lube to ease the pain of sex and when the hymen breaks it usually is just a tear with a minimal amount of blood...don't think to much into this or you will scare yourself.

I'm not certain of the specifics of hymens, so I can't answer about the difference between septate and annular or how it breaks. I have no idea when mine broke, but it was before my first time!

I've heard that some women have especially thick hymens. You can visit a gynecologist and have her pierce your hymen for you - it should be a lot less painful than during intercourse.

if you are comparing vaginal to anal, there is no hymen in your anus...both ways, for the first time, i would try taking a muscle relaxant (robaxacet, etc) and using TONS of lube...remember to breathe and relax, is all i can suggest

Because it is septate, your hymen may not break. Go see a gynecologist, and find out if you should have minor surgery to remove the extra tissue. If you have this done, you should be able to have sex without pain afterwards.

a septate hymen might cause more pain, annular hymen is almost normal so i wouldnt worry too much about that. and a hymen cant break in half, it gets worn away. if you get it over with, after a few in and outs of his penis the pain goes away, i promise. There maybe be bleeding afterwards but this is normal. just try and use lube to prevent friction.
