There should be groves on the upper part of the applicator, you need to push it in all the way to the groves, then push the plunger part inside. This will push the tampon out of the applitcator and inside you. It might hurt a little, make sure you are using a small tampon, like a Lite, slender regular, or regular. Also, make sure your flow is heavy enough to use a tampon. The blood acts as a lubricante and help the tampon slide into place easier. With a good flow / lubricant the tampon will be difficult to insert.

It hurt really bad the first time I did. Make sure you get it pretty far up. Otherwise it'll fall out, which is not a pleasant sight...especially at the beach :p

Look at the directions that come with the tampons...those will help you a lot. If your muscles are not relaxed, it can hurt a little bit, but relax and it shouldn't be a problem. Usually you can stop pushing the tampon up in the vagina when your fingers touch your labia (the lips of the vagina) and that will be far enough.

i put it in until the 1st half of the applicator is in
just relax and go slowly while inserting it, and if it hurts, just take it out and reposition it at a different angle

Follow the directions in the box. They say how far to push it before you push the plunger. Usually it's when the rings on the applicator handle touch your body and you can't push anymore, then you push the plunger to insert the tampon.

You hold the tube (applicator) where the little tube goes into the bigger tube. Hold the outer tube (most brands have anti slip grips) insert the outer tube until your fingers touch the outer part of your vagina. Push the smaller tube into the larger tube until both tubes are flush. If you have inserted the tampon correctly, and at the right angle, you shouldn't feel anything as far as pain. The correct angle is about 45 degrees. Aim for the top of your **** crack, or your lower back. It's really easy to do once you get the hang of it. If you are using tampons without applicators, you just want to push it in until you cannot push anymore.

Good Luck?

To my surprise, the first time I put in a tampon there was no pain. It was uncomfortable for a little bit but after a while you don't even feel it, if you put it in properly. Which is easy. Read the directions on the box and you'll be fine. Try getting Playtex Sport or Tampax Pearl which have grips and make it easier to insert it then remove the applicator without a big mess.

i usually just put it in till the part where you place your fingers barely goes in. it's been working good for me!

If you are using a tampon with an applicator, there will be a place where you can grip it with your middle finger and thumb. Find your vagina and then gently push the applicator towards your lower back all the way until your fingers touch your body. Then with your pointer finger push the smaller part of the applicator slowly in. The only reason it should hurt is if you put it in wrong and if that happens just gently try again. I strongly suggest talking to a women you trust about this. There will be directions in the box of tampons so you can look at that too. No worries, and if you aren't ready, that's OK!

Once you get the hang of it, inserting a tampon is no big deal. I use the types that don't come with applicators. That's because they're easier and quicker for me. I put the tip of my finger at the bottom of the tampon and just push it in.

keep pushing it in til your thumb and forefinger [or whatever fingers you use to put it in with] touch the lips of your vagina.
