Will Ortho Tri-cyclen help improve my PMS-related mood swings?!
Question: I see that many people get mood swings because of birth control pills, but I am wondering if anyone had them improve? I get really moody before my period, but feel better after words. I just got a prescription for ortho-tricyclen (for birth control) but now I am reading about the side effects and how it makes people feel depressed and moody. I am afraid to take it if it will make me feel worse!

It's definitely worth a shot. Everyone reacts differently to the pill. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclin for 4 years and didn't have noticeable side effects. Same thing with Seasonique now.
If you don't feel better after a couple months on Ortho Tri-Cyclin, go back to your doctor and explain how you're feeling. A different type of pill with different hormones (or more or less of them!) might work better for you.
If you have very severe depression or mood swings, don't try to wait it out. Go back to the doctor right away.
Good luck - I hope you find something to make your periods more manageable!
It does take a while for your body to adjust. When I first went on it I cried all of the time. But it got better.
I still get moody but it's better on the pill.
