First Pap scheduled in 2 days. SO SCARED. help! pointers?!
Question: i am absolutely terrified to get my first pap test. i have no idea what to expect and it makes me sick to think of letting someone touch me and see me down there who is not a boyfriend... ugh. help! can someone give me advice of things to do,,,what it will be like,...etc? thank you!

Its no big deal, just very embarrassing.. Just close your eyes!
It may be uncomfortable, but its alot painless than the dentist.
You will go in and they will say slide down to the edge of the table and they insert this metal thing to open you up that is the only thing that really hurts and it is just mostly uncomfortable.. It only takes a minute..
You will be fine.. Good Luck you will have MANY more in the future..The first time is the worst.. As in everything!
Relax just remember he/she is a doctor and it's just a check up. The more you panic the more scared you are going to be. it's not all that bad. Been there done that.
It's nothing to be scared about, women do it every day.
All they do is to examine your vaginal area, take a swab (with a Q-Tip) and may ask you some questions about your period.
If you have noticed any problems, or have questions, ask them .
i just had my first pap also. it's really not bad at all, i have a really good doctor and she explained everything she was about to do before she did it. i didn't feel a thing and i was diagnosed with HPV and i'm glad i didn't let the anxiety of a pap get the best of me. if you haven't done so yet i would recommend gettin the Gardasil Vaccine, i waited too long before i went to the gyno to get checked and now i'm stuck with this for the rest of my life.
Think of it the same way as a doctor looking in your throat. They look at vaginas all day, every day, so don't worry or feel embarrased. It will be very uncomfortable, you might get painful twinges, depending on their technique. Just do not tense up, it will make things worse. Breathe deep and try to concentrate on keeping things loose and not freaking out!
I would recommend a female doctor. However, if u cannot change right now.
I recall my first one. It feels like pressure. Try to relax even though u probably won't be able to. I focused on something in my head. I kept thinking about my cats and how I love my cats and how they were my best friends and made me feel safe and how non judgmental they are and love me always.. maybe that will help you. And ask if the nurse will hold your hand, it worked for me ,,nurses are nice and nurturing.
make sure you let the dr. know that it is your first time. this way they know to be gentle and explain as they go.
it is not as bad as it seems. just uncomfortable.
this might sound odd,but i'd suggest you pleasure yourself before you have it done.your pelvic muscles will be relaxed after having had an orgasm,and the lubrication you'll produce will help when the speculum is inserted.
