Hey hun,
You've had some good answers here.
I agree with most of them - I think its unlikely you have depression as it comes in 2 types - 1. that is caused by things in your life that are getting you down, and you didn't mention any or 2. one that is a thing where your brain just isn't producing the right chemicals.
Everyone cries sometimes, and during some periods more than others. It doesn't mean you have depression, which might involve crying but also you loose happy times, you don't feel emotions, you have no energy, things like that. So don't worry about having depression, because I don't think you have and worrying is probably making you unhappier.
The pre teen age can be hard as maybe your worried a little about the changes that will soon take place (don't worry! everyone gets through it, and its even quite exciting) also as others have said, your hormones are going haywire - just think what happens to boys when they are 13-14 and cut yourself some slack. Nothing wrong with having a cry now and then if you feel like it. And go talk to your mum - maybe she can arrange some girly time together, she seems very supportive.
Good luck sweetie - hope you feel better soon.

It could be a touch of depression, it could also be hormonal changes, I go cranky at certain times of the month.

I hate to to see people cry it makes me sad to.
you should go to the gym and use the running machine or you you can go jogging around were you live.
Running releases happy hormones from the brain thus fighting of depression.

It sounds as if you are suffering mild depression. It could be brought on by the hormonal shifts your body is going through,or just life stresses. Talk to your mom or school counselor and see what they think is the best way to deal with your sadness.

Depression doesn't mean you cry all the time, or anything. PMS can cause your emotions to fluctuate, it made me cry or get angry erratically and for no reason. See your doctor if you think it's serious. You could be totally over reacting but I would check with a doctor first.

Hi,
my daughter went through the same thing,
and we went to the doctor who said it was her hormones,
due to her body changing.

Can you get your mu to take you to the doctor or to see a nurse,
and they can help you.

My daughter is now happy, and only gets like this just before her period.

Hi Rebecca,
Sorry to hear about your situation. It's always difficult to tell but yes I think you might have depression. You need to go to your GP and talk about it to him/her. If you don't want to do that, you could try taking "St. Johns Wort" tablets - it's available over the counter in Boots, etc, they are herbal and do seem to work.
Also, it might be worth writing down all the things that are making you worried or fed up. Sometimes this seems to help for some reason.
(I once went through depression)

try to relax and only worry about the things that truly matter, and maybe it has a little to do with pms or premenstrul tension try to relax hunny and see if that helps

If you are pre-teen then it could be the changes in your hormones as that sends your emotions all over the place. Can you talk to your mom or friends as they may be going through the same feelings.

Has anything happened in your life that could make you depressed? If so - then you need to speak to either your mom or GP to get some help.

Your subconscious mind may be trying to work through some past experiences. For example a very embarrassing moment in front of many people etc.

As your conscious mind doesn't know any other distractors yet such as smoking, alcohol, food etc., it chooses depression.

Distractors are not helping you to overcome your past experiences, they just distract to make the pain go away.

Find someone with whom you can talk, and talk about your feelings. You need to find the cause of your depression and overcome it. Both will be tricky, but it can be done.

Depending on how old you are, you could also be affected by puberty hormones causing changes in mood. This is a different scenario than I describes above. In that case it may be normal to some extend.
