Yaz vs. Depo Shot??!

Question: I'm on the shot right now for about the 7th month, but I think I'm having nearly all of the side effects (spotting, anxiety, nervousness, stomach issues, etc). Is Yaz a good alternative? Does it have less side effects? I don't normally get effected by side effects, so this is new to me. I'm married, 26, and don't have any kids. I'm not worried about the weight gain issues, I could probably use it anyway (5'5" and 100 lbs). I'm going to ask a doctor about it next week, because my 3 months are almost up, but I'd like some first hand advice from anybody that can help. Thanks!

I've been taking Yaz for about 5 months now and it's ok..it really helps with my PMDD and with cramps (I didn't gain any weight on this pill though) but my sex drive is absolutely gone. But everyone is different...overall I'd say go for it and see how it works with your body chemistry. It says it will help your acne (if you have that problem) but it didn't help mine :(

i just got on YAZ,and its all good so far.its only been a week,and a half though.=)

being on depo was a huge nightmare for me- ive been off of it for a year now and still feel the side effects. thats all the in put i have. haha. sorry

I've heard good things about Yaz but I haven't tried it myself.

One thing to note is that Depo and Yaz are both progestin-based birth control pills. The type of hormone could be causing your side effects, and Yaz might not help that.

If you've used estrogen-based pills in the past successfully, you may want to switch back. Seasonique is estrogen-based, and I don't have any of the listed side effects 7 months in. I highly recommend Seasonique...getting 4 periods a year is fantastic!
