Period missing for 8 months?!

Question: This is the first time i've admitted this outward anywhere so I'm a tad nervous of responses. I'm 27 and have two children 5 and 7. My husband had vasectomy over 4 years ago, and there's no chance of pregnancy. I've always been regular with periods, up until recently. June of 2007 was my last menstral cycle. I haven't had one yet. I am terrified, and I mean terrified to see a gyno. I'm afraid they'll tell me i'm stupid for not seeing a doctor right away, and put me down. I'm scared of cancers, cysts or what have you. I've been under alot of mental and emotional stress for awhile, but I don't think that would be cause for this long of a missing period. I'm about 20% over weight for my BMI, but alot of this is my belly where a pregnancy would show. It seems poofy, and no matter what I do it won't go away. I'm starting to wonder if this is a result of a missed period for so long, and if it is..what's going on! Anyone have idea's on what could be going on?

i know its hard but try not to thinnk of it as things like cancer as this dosent always stop your period, my aunt passed away in november of cancer, it started with ovarian cancer and she was still having regular periods, i havent had a period since december and i have had 3 negative pregnancy test so am a bit worried to go see my gp in case something is wrong as cancer and fertility problems run in my family but like every1 tells me its best to get it checked out and if ur GP puts u down for not going sooner then he/she is not very professional, explain to him/her about your concerns, it will help alot and discuss it with your partner. i know this is hipocritical but please please please go see ur GP this has been to long you really do need some medical help. let me know how it goes please much love and luck lots of love lisa x

Is it your birth control. Go to the doctor that could be somthing serious

See a doctor! What ever they tell you can't be worse than what you're already worrying about. If you have a problem they can treat it, if not you'll get peace of mind.

Are you sure the vasectomy really took?
Did he go back for a sperm check to see if he is shooting blanks?

If you are extremely active, that could keep you from having a period.

Ok I know you don't wanna but you really should go to a doctor and get that checked. It could become really serious and extremly bad. I know you didn't wanna hear that you should go to the doctor right away but you really have to. It is never a good sign if you have missed your menstration cycle for eight months in a row. So yeah definatly get that checked.

i am a worry wart, and this would terrify me as well! the best advice that i can give you is to go to your dr! they are there to HELP you, NOT put you DOWN! they may give you a slap on the wrist for not coming in sooner, but at least they can take a look at what is going on inside of you, and most importantly, let you know what is going on with your body!

hang in there, go to the dr, and good luck!

Did your husband have 2 negative "sperm checks" after his vasectomy? If not, he may still be able to impregnate you. If he was checked out a-ok and the procedure was a success, you must go to the doctor. Putting it off can only make it worse if it is something serious. Go now and good luck!!
