It sounds like the migraines are definitely hormone derived. The same old medicines can work differently over time, and there is a possibility that she might be exposed to a new migraine trigger.

Are the medicines she previously used to stop the migraine attack still working, or are they working differently or not as well? She might need to switch her prescription. There are TONS of things available, and there could be something better. Relpax, Zomig, Imitrex, Midrin, Cafergot... etc. Your doctor should know that their effectiveness can change.

Since they seem to come in short frequent bursts, keeping a migraine diary might help to uncover any non-hormonal triggers. It's a good way to help understand what other external causes might be. It could very easily be a scent or a food item. Even the time of day, lack or sleep or dehydration can be a trigger.

If it persists, there are a lot of preventatives that she might find luck with. No one thing works for everyone, but there might be a good option for her out there. SSRI's, calcium channel blockers, beta blockers, and tricyclic antidepressants are a few types that are pretty common.

Xanax (alprazolam) cures all headaches for me. Also try Aleve (naproxen sodium). It's the ONLY thing that ever worked for my headaches. Give it 30 minutes to work...

Good luck. Hug your wife and snuggle regularly. Hubbys fix things meds can't!

Did she have an epidural to deliver? Sometimes headaches are a side effect that last for a while.
