Having trouble breaking my hymen???!

Question: My fiance and I have been together for about a year. We've had 'dry sex' a lot, and it always feels great. I've messed around with previous boyfriends, but I am still a virgin. My fiance and I have tried multiple times. He can get his head mostly into me if I grind my teeth and take it, but if he tries any more than that, it practically kills me. We've tried lubrication, and it doesn't really help. Someone told my fiance that Planned Parenthood could do an operation where they cut your hymen, but I don't know about that. I mean, if they could, how much would it cost? Would they knock me out while they did it? Any help you could give me...thanks.

The procedure is called a "hymenotomy." It's very simple, and will not require general anesthesia. They just take a pair of scissors and snip the hymen in one or more places then remove the excess skin. Often it can be done without even local anesthetic because it is so quick.

As for the cost, you should have a full gynecological exam done to make sure that your hymen is the problem. Be SURE to explain the reason for your visit as being an inability to participate in intercourse, and have the doctor make the decision of what is wrong.

Other possible causes could be:
Dyspareunia - pain with intercourse or attempted intercourse, and
Vaginismus - a relatively rare disorder in which the muscles around the entrance to the vagina spasm uncontrollably, making vaginal penetration and/or intercourse painful and extremely difficult or impossible.
