I'm experiencing flu like symptoms...... Question about the flu?!

Question: It feels like I'm experiencing flu like symptoms but I don't know if its the flu or not. It could be a number of things but I don't know if these are flu symptoms or if it could be something else.

I started my period yesterday and sometimes during the beginning stages of my period I experience a little nausea. I woke up in the middle of the night with what I thought was hunger pains so I ate some dry toast and some water then 15-20 min later I felt nauseated so I sat in the bathroom for a while just in case I needed to throw up but I didn't. So after 10 min I went back to bed and I was experiencing cold chills and off and on throughout the night my stomach would get nauseated.

I woke up this morning with a horrible taste in my mouth. My mouth was dry and every time I swallowed I was tasting a sweet taste (which was weird cause I didn't eat anything sweet yesterday) but I did take a midol before I went to bed last night? Could it be the midol that gave me that weird taste?

Im pretty sure its just the Midol upsetting your ulcer. My mom has an ulcer and when she took a Midol, she got really sick and she threw up. But, call your doctor and just check with them to see what it is. Your gonna be fine. Its not the flu, although it is symptoms like it, its not. Maybe the nausea came from a stomach bug going around, but its not the flu.

Good Luck with it!

Hope you feel better soon.

I feel flu like symptoms with my periods, however not feeling sick to my stomach, I am more fatigue , feverish. The flu is in high season right now and it could very well be the flu, check your temps, the cold chills is a sign for the flu.

I do not sound like the flu. You would have a fever and your bones and muscles would ache. Time will tell but I'm guessing some kind of mild virus. Don't think your pregnant but everyone is different.

Well it could be a number of things. If your period is heavy with a lot of cramps this month, I know some women have nausea. There is also a horrible stomach bug going around and you may have a touch of that.

The sweet taste in your mouth could be the coating (if it had one) on the pill that you are tasting some of the residual.

All I can suggest is wait and see if your symptoms improve or worsen. Drink some ginger ale to settle your stomach.

The way I always knew I was pregnant was both ends started running like crazy with no valves to turn them off. It was always just awful. But it told me I was pregnant. However this doesn't necessarily mean you are. Get a test and check. It could just be the flu. These are also symptoms of many other things. If I were in your shoes, I would make sure I drank lots of fluids, esp. chicken broth. There really are healing properties in it for colds. No carbonated beverages, if you want some pop, put a few grains of salt in it as it will reduce the amount of carbonation. Stay on lots of fluids until you can eat a soft food without nausea, then you can move on to bland regular food until you can eat regularly again. Just call the gynecologist to find out what is safe for you to take for ulcers just in case you are pregnant. I'm pretty sure they will tell you over the phone what you can take if it doesn't need a prescription. This is all I can tell you, good luck.
