What should i expect at the free clinic?!

Question: I was told you are required to be on your period on your first visit to prove you aren't pregnant (to get on birth control). My appointment is in two days but I'm pretty sure my period will be over or just spotting by then. Am I going to have to wait another month even though there's literally NO way that i'm pregnant? (cause i know they don't take your word for it!) Or will they give me a pregnancy test or something as an alternative?

I went tplanned parenthood and they didn't do any of that. I didn't even need an exam. They just asked me about my sexual history, and asked me what method I would prefer, then they explained everything to me and sent me home with the medicine, It was so much easier than i expected. i don't think you have anything to worry about, just make sure you are honest, and ask them any questions you may have, it's important to know, and don't be embarrased about anything. Good luck.

wtf. they can prove you're not pregnant w. a pregnancy test. You do NOT have to be on your period to give you birth control.

expect free service

what? your period? that's why they have pregnancy tests....they can tell in minutes if you are..

I dont know who told you that you had to be on your period, you don't. They will give you a test if you even thought you were pregnant but if there is NO CHANCE then they will probably just give you the birth control.

Oh my god! If you go while on your period, they won't give you a Pap Smear (or "Annual") cause the results could come back abnormal! They will give you a urine and blood test when you get there, before anything. They will ask if you want an HIV Test, also. (say Yes. It can't hurt) The doctor will give you a breast exam and then a pelvic exam and then do a pap smear. The whole thing is done pretty quickly. Make sure you know when your last period ended, began, et cetera.

I'm sure they will, or u can go to a hospital or even say a fib and say you will set another one up and that i'm telling yall the truth

Who told you that ridiculous non sense? Take it from a chick thats been going to free clinics since I was about 16, they ask you when your last period was, and that's all they do to determine your status. You'll get a pap smear on your initial visit and you'll be asked what form of birth control you want. and done deal. The only time your asked to be on your period for a visit is if your getting an iud put in . thats it.

I wish i was living in your states.that is just too much for our local clinics around here...

Lady depends on which state you are

Any free clinic, open up and say ahhh. They don't get paid like doctors at a hospital or private practice. You would be better off going to the ER and getting checked out. Illegal for ER to turn away anyone who has no insurance.
