Help!!! Cutting myself...?!


Question: i just started cutting myself a few days ago and first it was one cut a day but just last night i cut myself six times and today two already.
Alot of people say its because of emotional pain. I suffer from depression but i take meds for that and plus ive been happier the last few monthes than i have been in a long time especially b/c of my bf (we just started going out a month ago and im soo happy) but i cant stop now
why am i doing this?

Ur doing this bcause ur stressed. And ur mad. Ur probably taking it out on urself. Next time, just take it out on a pillow or bed or play soccer or some sport u can let anger out on. Good Luck! All u can do know is SMILE! =) U can also see a counsler 2 help u stop and figure out wuts wrong, but 1st just try wut I said! =)

You should talk to a professional. It may be emotional, maybe something else, but you definitely need to see someone. I wish you the best.

mental addiction. lots of people do it. i haven't cut in over a year but sometimes i still want to do it. you need to find something else to focus you pain in. possibly writing or playing music. it helps, trust me.

it could be that it is a way to deal with emotional pain, cutting yourself lets you feel physical pain instead of emotional, and cause you are feeling happy doesn't mean that you aren't depressed you could be on a high right now, or the stress of the relationship is effecting you and you don't know, the best thing to do is to go to the doctors that are caring for your depression and discuss this with them and let them know what you are doing, you need to be honest otherwise they can't help you, and if you don't already have a therapist find one that you can trust and start talking,

you doing it because your guilty. your not used to life without being upset. your life is in stake. just stop cutting yourself; you said your not even upset anymore. cutting is when people are upset and cut themselves when they feel bad.

I am, well was a cutter. I havent done it in a while.. Once you start cutting its SO hard to start, its like a drug. You get used to doing it, and whenever something bad happens you automatically go for the razor and hurt yourself to try and cause pain because you feel numb. Like nothing can hurt/affect you. I cant sit here and tell you that cutting is not the way-- I would be a hypocrite. But I can try and help you think of alternatives...instead try excersing, writing in a journal, going on a walk.. Or something else to get your anger out!

first clear your mind of everthing, then ask yourself why you are doing this and why you need to do this. when you get the urge to, call someone you love and talk to them for a while untill the urge goes away. plz if this doesnt help get some! we lose too many beautiful irreplacible women(and men!) these days to depression!!! >sarah :)

well you got addicted like me...other than im addicted to something else...teehee...just wear sweaters and gloves to cover up so you cant cut.

I used to because it took the emotional pain away and replaced it with physical pain which is far more bearing than emotional pain. You just need to tell yourself you don't need to do that ****, it doesn't help. And you probably need to talk with a psychiatrist too.

Focus on something you enjoy! Every time you feel like cutting yourself, call your boyfriend to distract yourself (he can't think that's attractive), or walk your dog, or brush your teeth...something to distract you!

I'm a little confused myself...why do kids cut themselves nowadays - no one ever did that when I was in school? It's sad that the media plays such a big role in peoples lives - kids would have never even heard of cutting themselves if it wouldn't have been on tv so much. Please don't cut yourself just because you've heard of other people doing it...it's really not the cool thing to do!

Cutting is definitely a way of dealing with emotional pain, but every person is different. The only way of actually knowing what is going on and "why" you're cutting; would be to go see a therapist or counsellor or psychologist. I understand the thought of speaking to someone might seem overwhelming or scary, I've been there for years... but it helps; and for me it's helped changed my life... I hope all works out for you
