Women only please?!?!

Question: ok so i have regular periods and everything (i'm 14, started 2 years ago). I havent started for this month yet but i'm having alot of discharge (should be starting any time now) so i wore a pad to school bc i ran out of liners ( for the discharge) and it got kinda bunched up (ugh) and now its like really irritated and painful "down there". i've tried tampons before but i guess i was doing something wrong bc i couldnt get it in at all like it wasnt even half-way in, and it hurt...... so any advice? i think it was a regular so should i try a smaller size? help!

This people are a bit dramatic! It sounds very normal- you probably irritated your that very sensitive skin by using a pad when you didn't really need anything that bulky. I highly recommend tampons for your period, but you can't use them for discharge. If the irritation goes away over the next day or two, I wouldn't worry about it.

And give the tampons another try for your next period- the poster above made good recommendations. Use the slim ones with plastic applicators (Playtex). Make sure you have it inserted all the way before you push down the plunger. If in correction, you shouldn't be able to feel it.

Discharge is just a part of life as a women, and sometimes it worse than other times. Get some liners so you're always prepared. If you find yourself out again in the future, you may want to just use a bit of toilet paper. Just change it frequently.

They make tampons for teens, that are slimmer. Your first time using the tampon, try lying on your back with your knees bent then insert it, kinda pointing at an angle toward the floor. You prob couldnt get it in all the way cause you were tensed up and your muscles were contracted. Also if that doesnt work try to put some lube like ky on it till you get the hang of them. Also use plastic applicators.

it may be embarrassing to you because you're so young...but sweetie you have to talk to your mom...or an adult you can trust. Generally, all cities, suburbs have free or low cost clinics. You need to get yourself in there for an appointment asap. You could have a infection. If you're sexually active; you should be using protection...please seek help

you should go to a gyno is you have discharge and not your monthly it could be yeast infection

when i was your age i had a reallllllly hard time with tampons.... it wasn't until i was like 16 that i could use one comfrtable.. i'm not sure why but if you try them again get the smallest size ones...the ones your mom uses hard to big and hurt

By wearing the pad you created a warm moist dark area around your vagina.... that is a breeding ground for bacteria. If the discharge has a foul odor you need to go see the doctor because you most likely have bacterial vaginosis.

I'm not clear if you're having pain around your vagina due to a tampon or if you're having pain that accompanied the discharge.

If you're having pain with the discharge and you're sexually active, you should see a doctor
