Is it normal/abnormal to bleed after an ultrasound scan?!

Question: i've been having abdominal pains (mostly on my right hand side) on and off for the last 5 weeks. 4 weeks ago i went into nhs drop in, who sent me to a 24 hour doctor, who sent me to A&E, who've then referred me to have an internal ultrasound scan. had the scan yesterday, and they've ruled out several things (i'm not pregnant, it's not my appendix and i don't have a cyst), but today i had a teeny bit of blood. i have a tendency to bleed after sex (this started happening after i was raped 3 years ago).

is it normal to bleed a little bit after a pelvic scan, or is this something to do with whatever's wrong with me?

is it likely to be endometriosis?

After a vaginal ultra sound it is very common to bleed I have had many with my pregnancy's and blead each time. Endometriosos is VERY painful and the only way to know if you have it or not is to have a type of surgery. They can not tell until they are int here if you have it or not. I've had the surgery done once and am going to be having it again soon. The only way to get rid of endometriosis is to get rid of your periods. Maybe try a birth control or the iud. I was on these until my husband got "fixed" and now my pain is back and I have to go through it again. Good luck!!!

nope not at all.

it is very normal to bleed after a pelvic exam.

You should see the doctor about it. My wife never had that happen and she had five babies.

it has nothing to do with endo. And since this happens after relations for you, it is not surprising. This should be mentioned to your doctor.

You said in your question an ultrasound scan and then in your statement a pelvic exam. Which did you have? I wouldn't have thought you should be bleeding after an ultrasound, but it is common after a pelvic exam, especially if you have a history of bleeding after sexual intercourse. You may have erosion of the cervix. If you are worried or concerned, you should go back to your Dr and discuss the possibilities with him/her.

I don't think that it is norma to bleed after an internal scan ,but as you say you are prone to it after intercourse ,I would say it is probably something to do with it.
I doubt it anything to worry abbout ,but I would recommend going to your doctor to tell him about your bleeding to work out why.
Good luck, and try not to worry.
