Not every young girl/teen or women have symptoms when it first develops and it doesn't always develop early on in life - for some women, it pops up out of the blue (EVEN if you've already had children).

AND! --
Having PCOS doesn't necessarily mean that you skip periods or have none at all, and it doesn't mean that you're having or are going to have fertility problems.

You could have insulin resistance, which IS a common form of having PCOS.

Talk to your doctor some more to be a little bit more informed, or here are some information pages you could look at:

Did you have an ultra-sound? The chances are, if you did then the doctors are right. Symptoms change between people though .

Yes, they could be wrong. Get another opinion.

of course!! doctors don't like to admit when they simply don't know what the problem is. they feel it is their obligation to diagnose anyway. people get misdiagnosed everyday for this purpose. if it isn't broken, don't fix it. but if you want, get a second opinion. since cysts seem to come and go, it may be difficult to detect on any certain date you set up an appointment. but i think everything is fine. good luck.

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome myself and I don't even have polycystic ovaries. No one really knows what the actual problem is, they just know the symptoms. Polycystic ovaries is just one of the symptoms, and it seems like that's the only symptom you have. Other possible symptoms are irregular periods (so not necessarily fewer periods), infertility, facial hair, acne, weight problems etc. Those symptoms are all only possible symptoms, some people only have one, some have a few, some have all of them. So if you've had an ultrasound that showed you have polycysitic ovaries then yes you do have the condition but it doesn't necessarily mean you will show all of those symptoms they told you about.

EDIT

You should be a bit wary of the insulite labs site give below. It is a commercial site - trying to sell a product so no matter how proffessional and medical they've made the site look you should be careful not to automatically believe it.

Honey, don't stress it too much! go to another doctor and get a second opinion. If you see that nothing is wrong with your body than trust your owe instictings. Many of the times doctors are wrong! Good luck!

I was diagnosed with no symptoms, but it was through an ultrasound. If you haven't had one of those, your doc could be wrong. If you've had one - he's right.
