Enlarged lymph nodes?!

Question: One located in the armpit for several months and a new one showed up on the neck area recently. Everyone says that means your body is fighting some kind of infection...but what infection?

Have you been sick lately? If you have, or have recently been sick, then yes they could be swollen because of that. Now I had mono and my lymph nodes on my neck were swollen. Even when I got over it, my lymph nodes were swollen for about 2-3 months later. Then they went down. Even having the common cold could have them swell up. If you are completely normal and have been, seek a doctor. Any doctor, tell your parents or if you're old enough, go seek a doctor to go get it checked out. I still think if you are questioning it, go get it checked out.

You should seek medical attention.

There could be one of several. You need to see your doctor to find out. Now get going.
Note: Now is the time to get a doctor, You don't mess around with this.

it could be your body fighting infection, but for several months?? my grannie had several enlarged lymph nodes some for months others not so long, she was diagnosed with lymphoma CANCER. go to your doctor just to make sure. if its infection you'll get antibiotics, if its worse than you can begin treatments asap.

I had one on my neck, it was there for several months before I decided to do something about it because I was afraid it was cancer. It wasn't, my doctor said most of the time lymph nodes do not mean cancer. I had a biopsy and it was a simply a growth from growing... I was 16/17 at the time and apparently it's common, so if you're around that age it's probably nothing to worry about but always check with your doctor if you're unsure. The biopsy wasn't as bad as I thought, I couldn't feel the needle and it wasn't the least bit painful. There are lots of different reasons lymph nodes can become enlarged, the only way to know for sure is going to see someone about it.

The one in neck at the rear of my jaw below my ear swells on me but I have chronic sinus problems. You could have some toxins in your body that are causing it too.

But...

my brother had this problem along with some serious pain in his body. His doctor mis-diagnosed him with Castleman's disease. We later learned that he had cancer-lymphoma.

If you're really concerned, go to a doctor and get it checked out. They usually give you some medication and it clears up the swelling. Don't worry.

Good luck
