Toxic shock syndrome??!

Question: does TSS have to do with the amount of time the tampon is in you or the amount of blood absorbed in you?
for example.. if i am just barely ending my period and theres barely any blood and i slept with a tampon in-is that a risk?

my friend slept with one in before and she was fine.

It has to do with how long you keep it in. Even if you are barely bleeding you need to change it at regular intervals as it can get growths on it. I think its at least every 8 hours.

yes, you have to change it every 8 hours. i dont recommend using tampons in the last days of your period.

You just cant leave it in long. Youre letting bacteria build in you. Its not good. You should just read the directions and the longest you should keep it in is between just before you go to bed to RIGHT when you wake up...

most people who forget to take out a tampon do not get tss. it is very rare. most people will never get it in their lifetime, and we all forget more than once!
the symptoms of tss are pretty harsh, so you'd probably know if you had it.
not sure about the size of the tampon, though they recommend smaller when you don't have a heavy flow
