First period question?!

Question: I'm 12 and a half... about 5 2 or 5 3... i only weigh 88 pounds though... I have been getting white discharge for about a year now... my friend got her period and she is about the same height and only weighs 5 more pounds than me...

Am I getting my period soon??
And how can I gain weight cause I think I might be too skinny to have my period?

plz don't say "it'll happen when it happens"

Well, I don't know when you'll get your period. Normally, discharge is a sign that it's coming. And, usually underarm, or other pubic hair is a sign too.
I think I had discharge for roughly a year and a half before I got my period.

And, as for the whole 'too skinny for your period' thing, there's no such thing. As long as you're eating healthy, and exercising, you shouldn't worry about your weight. If you're not eating enough, I suggest asking your doctor about healthy ways to put on a little weight. But, this would have nothing to do with your menstruation.

honestly, theres no way to just know, you could get it tomorrrow.

your period should arrive soon and to gain weight just eat alittle more...

It depends on when your mom started, that happened to me to, you just need to wait.

It should be soon, but trust me, your not to skinny to get it, I was tiny at 13 (still am) and I got mine. You'll probably get it when you a bit closer to 13. Enjoy it, lol it will be awkward and uncomfortable the first time, but you'll get used to it.

Young women who have a low body fat can have later periods and less per year. Some female athletes do not have full regular periods until after high school. Depending on the "white discharge", you should probably see your doctor. I could be a yeast infection.

i owuld say you will probably be getting it soon and i would def try gaining some weight or puttting on a little muscle but if you are a really athetic girl you wont probably get it for a while good luck!

i got my first period when i was fattest.
around 13 i think and 5ft 80lbs.
then i had this huge calorie spree ate all this food thn had it.
you dnt wnt it sersly.
it sucks!

id say u r getting it fairly soon/

Discharge is a great sign that it is on its way. Your weight should have nothing to do with it. My daughter had discharge for about a year prior to puberty starting. Also budding of the breasts is another sign.

Yes you might be getting your period soon. No you shouldn't gain weight. I know a girl who is 70 pounds and she has her period. Trust me I learned this in my Human Growth and Development.

It might be coming soon. Ask your mother when she got hers, or if you have a sister, it all has to do with genetics. You are skinny, but before you get your first period, you will gain more weight. Also if your breasts have started to develop, that will be a good sign that it is coming soon. just be prepared with pads and tampons handy!

every girl is completly different,so when talkign about periods and wanting to know when you will get yours, how is anyone meant to no? these questions are definitly a "it will happen when it happens" becasue no one knows!

weight does have a lot to do with it. The rule is around 100lbs. I wouldn't worry about it at all. It will come, and if you are just naturally skinny then don't worry about the weight.

You could be getting it soon. You're showing the signs. Your height and weight has nothing to do with it.

When your mom got it will give you an idea.

i dont think u can b too skinny to get ur period that would b wierd but it sounds llike u will start soon but u never no

im sorry to say this but it will happen soon enough...and dont try and rush even though you really have no say so in it....enjoy it while you can ..periods are messy nasty and the cramps hurt like hell...and you are gonna notice a lot more than just some white stuff coming out of your vajayjay .... and your weight has nothing to do with your period...but the way you can gain some weight is eating more....

You'll know when it happens..There will be blood! lol...No but I was 11 when I had my first, and i started getting really bad cramps like a month or two before my first period, and them BAM i had a period...So for me having cramp about a month before was my sign...and youll know the cramp..they hurt, and they are you your low abdomen where you pubic hair starts!! Dont be in a rush PERIODS SUCK!!!

You'll probably get it within the next year or so, but it depends. Usually you get it around the time your mom got her first one.

a few days before i got mine for the first time, i just knew it was coming.. but that was just me.. i started around your age too.. so, if you actually WANT to get it, eat more. this will increase your fat content.. thats just about the only thing you can do.

This is a good question.

I had the discharge for a few years before it happened for me.
And because you're so small and young it will probably be a while. But I don't know. Sometimes it happens around the same time that it did for your mother. It did for me. So you might want to ask her.

Everyone is different.
I started when I was 9, but I have friends that were close to 15. Don't rush it, it will come.....Boy or boy will it come....and never stop coming...

well i got my when i was 13 yrs. i had the stupid discharge thing from 5th grade until 7th when i got it. and when i was getting my period the discharge was rly rly heavy. so u'll know when ur about to get ur period when the discharge gets heavy for a few weeks then u lose it all and for a day or two ull get this brown stuff and then ull get ur period a few days later.

email me if u have any other questions.

you could get it in 2 years or tonight. You will get it when you see spotting about a month before your first period. don't try to gain weight, just eat normally and you will gain it when you gain it, more through puberty. Pack some tampons and pads in your back pack though, because you don't want any accidents. BELEIVE ME.

Most of the time they say that about 1 year after you start to discharge and you start to develope breasts, you will see aunt flow for the first time. Of course all girls are different. I know it's not what you want to hear, but the reason you keep hearing it is because it's true. Do you know when your mother got her first one? A lot of times, you will take after her in this. Or even your grandmother. But whatever you do, do not think there is anything wronge with you. You will get it when your body is ready to handle it. And I can promise you this, after the first couple of years, you can't wait for it to go again. Good luck sweetie and keep your chin up!

Don't worry! You will get yours soon!!!You can't make it happen though and it is not because that you are to skinny! I got mine when I was 14! I was only 90 pounds! Ever one else already had theres!! I began to think the same thing, but over time I finally got mine!!! So don't worry, you know you don't have to be like everone!!!!!

I got my first period when I was 12.
A few days after i turned 12 y/o.
I clearly remember that I also had quite a lot of white discharge before I got my first pd. i dont remember how long the discharge was comming for until I got my period.
I was also about the same height and weight as you.
No. you are not young to get your period. The average age for a girl to get her period in the U.S is 12 y/o.

Every girl is different. But I would ask your moTher when she got hers...... My mom got hers when 12 and I got mine on my 12th birthday..... Because when your mom got hers will tell you what age you will get yours.

theres no way of knowning that happened to me too but i got mine when i was 13 so idk it all depends....nd not to scare u but u can get it in either 5 yrs from now or tomorrow. srry but u just have to wait nd see!
