If I am on the pill and my period didn't come...?!

Question: during the allotted sugar-pill time, at what point should I be worried? I've already been back on the normal pills for two weeks. Will my period come while I'm on the normal ones, even if it is late?

I did take a pregnancy test after getting back on the normal pills. I checked, and the pills should have no effect on the result of the test, which came back negative.

My period before starting the pill was always irregual, enough so that this amount of time would not be that abnormal. I started the pill three months ago (therefore second period since on the pill). Should I just chalk it up to my body getting adjusted?

It's entirely uncommon to skip a period while on the pill. Happened to me. Take another test to be sure. But, it probably is your body getting used to the hormones.

Because I've had false negative readings on pregnancy tests I would take another test to be sure. If it still says you're not and if you don't think you're pregnant or "feel" pregnant - very sore and somewhat swollen breasts, frequent urination, mild to moderate nausea - then I would probably wait until next month given you tend to be irregular. Your body may be adjusting and you shouldn't start while taking the hormones.

If you even remotely think you are pregnant or that your body isn't reacting well to the pill call the prescribing doc and ask what he/she thinks you should do.

I used to be irregular too (long periods followed by several months off). I tried 'the pill' once. When I took them I kept having a light period then a second one mid cycle. My doc acted like some people take time to adjust, and advised to take the pill at the same time every day... but after 6 months of double periods things had gotten little better and I gave up.

I'd guess with only two full cycles you may still be adjusting. And I think no periods beats an extra one.

I dont know how common this is, but after I had my first baby my body seemed to regulate itself, and I'm much more predictible now. ... so hey forget the pill, just have a kid ;)
