Question: I have my period around every month around the 16-18. I'm not pregnant. I have been having stressing out lately over school, is this why my period is so late?

Hello!

When under stress, regardless the adrenal glands are designed to secrete the hormone cortisol, which has a direct impact on the sex hormones estrogen, progesterone, and DHEA. Eating disorders, dieting, drug use, and reliance on stimulants like caffeine and alcohol are also interpreted by the body as kinds of stress. Poor nutrition seems to physically change the proteins in the brain so they can no longer send the proper signals for normal ovulation.

So while it could be ANYTHING that is messing with your period, stress definitely plays a factor...so stressing about where your period has disappeared to ADDS to the irregularity of your period.

Hope this helped :)

that could be it but if your young then they will be really unreliable at the moment

yess stress can definately slow down a period. if you arent eating right and unhealthy, it can slow it down as well.

yes, heavy stress can definitely affect the timing of your period.

i would think so. when i get stressed sometimes i dont get it at all. dont worry i am sure that you just need to get away for a couple days. get a friend to bring your work and stay at home for a few days. talk to your mom about this.

It very well could be just that. Almost anything can alter a period.. Stress, lots of physical activity, weight loss, weight gain... It could be anything.. Plus the anticipation of it makes it worse.. Just try and relax..

I guess the answer is yes, but i have a question, can stress and eating unhealthy also slow down when you get your FIRST period? Email me with the answer pleasee.

Could well be. Stress can make your periods erratic. Some serious emotional traumas, like the death of a loved on, can stop them altogether for a while.

lots of things can change your cycle... too much exercise, stress..... even being around other women often... like at work or your living situation can change your period. i would definitely go see my doctor if i were you. good luck

Yes, as a male Nursing student in the University this is very real and true and very common among most female patients, sometimes daily hassles turns out to battle against our immune system alot when the person is unable to cope. This can result in headache, lack of appetite, restlessness, constipation etc in many people.
ln your case your physical aspect is being influenced and menstrual hormonal production rate have been altered by the stressors.
Keep calm and relax from those duties that stresses you or you can engage in leisure etc when stressed.
