Sexual desire or hormones going bonkers?!

Question: I am 45 and have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. I am scheduled for surgery to have it removed. However, my sex drive has really shot up and sex is all I think about. Is this normal? And will this desire for sex still be there after removal of ovaries (hysterectomy)? I feel like this could just be my hormones going bonkers. Please help. Any ideas welcome

It is completely normal to have your hormones on overload sometimes. Even after a hysterectomy, people still experience sexual desire, just as men who have vasectomies still have an overwhelming desire to have sex. Sexual desire is not only about the area around the uterus etc, as it is the brain that produces the hormones that are driving you crazy in the first place, and you brain isn't what's going to be removed! Don't worry, you should still have a sex drive in some form, but please speak to your doctor if you're worried about it, because there are hormone pills you can take if, for some reason, you experience a loss in sex drive after your hysterectomy.

Good luck for your hysterectomy, I'm sorry to hear you have an ovarian cyst :(

no idea......
