Lots of girls and young women are afraid of tampons. There's no rule that says you have to use them; in fact, they pose some health risks that external protection doesn't.

Many people opt to use pads until they are sexually active, at which time the idea of putting a slender tampon in place is no longer scary.

You dont HAVE to use tampons. There are other alternatives. But there is no reason to be afraid of them... When youre ready for them, you will know. There is no rush.

calm down. every girl has to use a tampon. look through the woman isle of the store and carefully select the right one. u wont even be able to feel them

realistically you haven't given enough background infomation and what you've just written makes you sound a little crazy. Could you add a few more details like why are you afraid of tampons?? Why haven't you had your periods in six months?? And with those answers we cann assume why you will be sueing them.

Oh USE them.... you spelt it wrong and says sue. LOL funny. Once you've used them a few times you won't be so worried. Try pads first if you want. Not as comfortable but better for your system as the menstration comes out of the body onto the pad where is a tampon blocks and absorbs. Both a very safe in this day n age.

Tampons are definitely scary at first. I was forced to use them when I was like 13 and got my period right before I went to the beach.
I think you should just wait until you get your period and try to use them when you aren't feeling stressed out. Like, try them at a time when you have nothing to do. Really, they don't hurt, they can't get "lost," and they can be more reliable than a pad, so try not to be afraid of them!

Relax. And you don't have to use them. If you aren't comfortable with the idea of tampons than don't use them. Also if you do use them it won't hurt (if use correctly) just read the box it5 should tell you.

Just try it out. Get the smallest ones-i love tampax pearl. they are awesome. Here is a site that tells u how to put it in.
http://www.tampax.com/howtouse.php
They also come w/ instructions.
Another site is www.beinggirl.com

ok well usally in the box there are directions on how to insert them. they wont hurt u if u do it right and trust me there is only one way to go in so u cant mess up. if u have questions u could always ask ur mom older sister aunt if u have questions. its just like putting the mail in the mail slot.

yea i know.
im afraid to a girl died in my school from keeping one in to long.
but change it every 4 hours in the day. at night every 8 hours.
i dont want to wear one but as long as you wear LOW absorbincy then the chances of toxic shock are slim.
(the girl died from toxic shock. it usually occurs when you dont change it often and its high absorbincy)

Tampons are not for everybody I am 24 and have never found tampons comfortable don't stress you never have to use them if you don't want to :o)

Don't worry about it. You dont HAVE to use them. One of my best friends is 23 and has never used a tampon. There are plenty of women who don't use them. I find them to be a lot more convenient than pads, and a lot more comfortable. You can try them when you're ready. Just try the smallest ones they make, the slim fit or juniors. And as someone else answered, try them out when you're not in a rush and have time to relax and try a few times. It can be difficult to get them in the first few tries because it's a bit odd feeling. But once it's in correctly, you don't even feel it. And the risk of TSS is very small, especially if you change your tampon regularly. The risk of TSS was much higher 20 or 30 years ago because of the way tampons were made. And if you are aware of the symptoms, you have a 97% survival rate with TSS.
