Chances are yes. The vagina is a muscluar tube that hasn't yet stretch to fit a penis inside. That stretching makes you feel some what sore. Also, if you aren't aroused enough (wet enough) friction also plays a role. I never bled the first time I had sex, but it hurt a whole lot, so much that we had to stop and wait until the next day to try again. Still I did not bleed.
