High risk abdominal surgery-need a surgeon...?!
Question: I have a close friend who is in extreme pain from gynecological problems and needs a hysterectomy. However, no sergeons in her area will touch her. They claim she is too high of a risk because of scar tissue from 10 previous abdominal surgeries. Does anyone know of any surgeons that might be able to help her?

Find the nearest teaching hospital and call them. They may be able to refer your friend to someone who is better able to perform the surgery. However, if several doctors, especially if they are specialists, say they cannot do the surgery, chances are that your friend will not be able to have the surgery. If surgery is not possible, suggest that your friend finds a pain management specialist as pain management will be the only option left.
