Experience with NuvaRing?!
Question: Hi Guys,
I was just prescribed NuvaRing by my gyno and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it? Has anyone that suffers from hormonal migraines had a good experience with this birth control?

I loved being on Nuvaring! I was on it for almost 3 years, and I had less problems with it than any other kind ( I've tried them all!). I've had hormonal problems with other forms of birth control, but none with Nuvaring. I also got pregnant while on the pill, so it was important for me to find something that works. It's great!
I haven't been ringed but I've talked to some who have. From what I've heard, its been a good experience. They seemed to think it was better then daily pills. My one friend did say it was kinda weird to insert at first, but she got used to it.
I don't think they had headaches to begin with, so I can't speak to the second part of your question.
When you use birth control pills the hormones are processed in your liver. From there they travel throughout your body, including your brain. This is why you can get headaches from the hormones. With the Nuva Ring and IUD the hormones are not processed through your liver. From the vagina to the fallopian tubes.
I used to use the ring and I LOVED it. It was the only BC that didn't make me get horrendously fat or insanely bitchy.
Unfortunately hubby hated it. He could feel it when we had sex, and it drove him nuts. You can take it out for "relations", however I found that I would forget to put it back in, and that's bad news!
