Getting pregnant on the pill?!
Question: Does anyone know what the chances are of getting pregnant while on the pill? Not just fully pregnant, with the developement of the fetus, but also the chances of the egg being fertilized and not being able to develope, because the birth control does not allow it to attach and develope...thanks.

Okay, so the pill is 99.7% effective. This means that there is a 0.3% chance that a woman will ovulate. That means there is also a 0.3% chance that the egg will get fertilized and either attach or not attach. It's very difficult to say how much effect the birth control has on the lining of the uterus, especially since the effects take place over a long period of time. Some say that after a few months the changed lining of the uterus makes it difficult for the egg to attach to the uterine wall, but I don't think there are any statistics on that.
By the way, if the egg gets fertilized, the birth control has already failed, and it's really up to chance, nature, and maybe the effect of the pill on the uterine lining as to whether or not the fetus develops.

i'd say that they're pretty good if that's the way the pill works. i thought it worked the other way
I'm no doctor but you're either pregnant or you're not - your above scenario is not plausible. however, no contraception is fool proof, some are better than others and depending on other circumstances (ie. taking antibiotics can mess with the pill) you always stand a chance of getting pregnant - pill or not.
I have known women that got pregnet while on the pill. Nothing was wrong with her child either. make him use protection instead or both.
Well the pill is safer than condoms but their is always a small change you could get pregnant. i think the pill is 99% safe
Pills are only 99% effective when taken exactly as prescribed.
Plenty of women get pregnant on the pill.
NOTHING is 100% except for abstinence.
