Vaginal discharge question?!

Question: Hi everyone. I would first like to ask that if you do not have a mature answer to this question, please do not comment. I am sincerely asking for advice here. So I recently just shaved my area and it had been probably a week since I last did. I never noticed before but it seems as though I have an abnormal amount of vaginal discharge. I mean I've never asked another female but it's just how I feel. It seems as though within an hour my panties get wet from the vaginal discharge and it just feels awkward the whole day. I always change my panties so it doesn't really matter about the awkwardness but it's just such a hassle. I dont know if this is normal or what. Can someone please provide some advice? I'm 19 years old and have never had sex, I don't wear tampons and I'm not sure what's going on or if it is anything to worry about. Any advice and/or suggestions about dealing with this will be much appreciated! Thank you in advance! :D

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Different types of infections:

Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

i know this is going to sound immature, but it's not. women are on a cycle, about 28 days. and two weeks before your period starts again you are going to be REALLY in the mood. so your vagina is going to discharge a lot more. it's natures way of makeing you want babies. it's natural. don't worry. and if it's really a hassel just use pantyliners. they work wonders. :)

I highly suggest to go to www.beinggirl.com and ask Iris and she will answer with in day or possibly weeks but she will answer. She is (said to be) professional, I believe it b/c why would they teach girls about periods and give an untrustworthy website? gl

I dont know...but i have the same problem and i dont know what to do...so if you find out an answer let me kno plz!

Does the discharge have any kind of odor or coloration? It could be what the person above me said about it being that 'time' during your cycle.. or it could be that you have an yeast infection or vaginitis.. both things would need to be diagnosed by your gynecologist. I would suggest using the panty liners (they make liners that are very thin and pretty comfy.. you don't really notice them at all) and keeping tabs on the issue.. if it continues to be bothersome (or there is an odor) set up an appointment with your gyno.

well i dont think shaving has anything to do with the discharge ive been shaving for as long as i can remember probly sence i was 17 atleast. and as long as the discharge dont smell and its not itchy or anything i wouldnt think it was an infection it could have something to do with the bump youve found. is it a hard bump kind of like a not? it could be a cyst or something maybe if its still there in a couple of days you should see your gyno and get check to make sure its nothing serious. oh and one last thing discharge does change with age, sexual arousal, hormones,is your period close? just a few things that could cause you to have more discharge. well good luck with everything
